What Test We Used

OMEGA’s HHWT-14 is a handheld photometer designed for quick testing of water for lead, mercury and cadmium. The HHWT-14 has been designed to offer the user a more “green” and cost-effective alternative to testing. Instead of using a 10 ml water sample, it uses a 4 ml water sample, which uses up to 60% less chemical per test. The easy-to-use dip strip method delivers the reagents to the sample safely and takes the guesswork out of water testing.

Procedure Taken

  1. Prepare Sample for testing by collecting 50 ml of water in the test tube
  2. Add 3 drops of Pb - Acid to the solution
  3. Cap the test tube and shake
  4. Let solution sit for 5 Minutes (minimum)
  5. Turn on Meter
  6. Press "Menu" to select the PB2 test
  7. Fill and Empty the cell with the solution 4 times
  8. Fill the empty cell with the water sample while leaving room for Reagent Pb-2
  9. Add 5 drops of Reagent Pb-2
  10. Dip PB-3 strip and press "read"
  11. Move strip back and forth for 20 seconds, then take our strip
  12. Let solution site for 1 minute (Cap can be placed on top for higher accuracy)
  13. Dip Pb-4 strip and press "read"
  14. Move strip back and forth for 20 seconds, then take our strip
  15. Let solution site for 1 minute (Cap can be placed on top for higher accuracy)
  16. Record sample measurements in micrograms per liter (μg/L)
